Special Interests and Hobbies: Cooking, Trained Gourmet Chef, attended Culinary School of Kendall College and Chicago Citywide College for Hospitality Law, Modeled for over 15 years for companies like Virginia Slim, Kraft, Venture, KMart, Ebony, Jet, Standard Bank,Sweet Talk Greeting Cards, promotional work for Seagrams, Barcardi, Ebony Fashion Fair. Did television Commercials for Evans and voiceover work. Have worked as an extra around town on movies. Did Food Styling Ads for Home Run Inn Pizza, Diamond Food Products, Jewel, and Tupperware. Put on local talent showcases in the past and worked with some local one stops in marketing and promotion and local record labels.

I enjoy creating and listening to music, reading, cooking, sewing, writing, crafting, and sometimes I make my own skin care products and cosmetics and I also make my own perfumes since I have an allergy to most fragrances which is why I use as many natural products as possible. I believe the toxins we spray and breathe in the air have a direct effect on many diseases, breathing problems and developmental problems in children. My son has asthma, he has very few problems with asthma now that I use less chemicals around the house and we have less headaches.

I enjoy editing and filming, screenwriting and working with special effects programs.

I like animals,  exotic flowers, and anything computer related or arts related.

I am very spiritual and believe in wellness and holistic health. I am enrolled in a wellness program, have been into health foods, herbs and wellness since I was in my twenties and have religiously taken vitamins ever since I was in my twenties therefore I look twenty years younger.  Dick Clark, the eternal teenager said in an interview that he had taken a vitamin everyday of his life and attributed that to his youthful appearance and good health at the time. I like to read inspirational books, literature that helps to develop and strengthen our minds and souls lke Change Your Brain, Change Your Life by Dr. Daniel Amen who was just on PBS lecturing on changing our brain patterns to lead better lives. I wholeheartedly agree. I love anything that challenges the mind beyond what we can see with our own eyes or have been taught to believe.

I am outspoken, opinionated but not inflexible, easy going, open minded, laugh and joke a lot, am playful-a kid at heart--(animals --the two legged ones and the four legged ones--- and kids love me). I am curious, headstrong, relentless, sometimes fiery and hot headed so I have to control my temper, a home-body but would like to go back and visit England if I could-- very interested in social causes, especially youth causes, special needs and the disabled, elder issues, and autism, and animal rights and probably and over protective mom-so sue me--hah!.
I am the proud parent of a soon to be freshman in high school and I help to look out and care for an elderly parent in a nursing home which is why I am so interested in elder issues.

J Lektro

J Lektro is the new kid on the block. He was given the name J Lektro by his mom when she decided to christen him with a name that would give props to his skills with anything electronically oriented. Being a tekkie since near birth J has been using a computer since he was two years old. J attends a Fine and Performing Arts School. Possessing major knowledge of computer software (and also the computer being second nature for J), the world of electronic music was just the arena for this talented teen. J’s mom has been writing her own lyrics and had some music already produced of her own but needed help with final production.

It took a visit from a friend and an internationally well known producer Joe Smooth *we thank him* to bring over a music software program to his mom (well Mom was a little swamped with her schedule and was taking a little too long to learn the programs so she decided it was best for J to learn). It didn’t take long for J to get the party started. J has not looked back since. J does most of his mothers music now. J took to the music programs like a fish to water. Later another special person in their lives Paul Barry a.k.a. Lord of Crows a DJ/producer from Italy and the UK introduced J Lektro to Ableton Live and since then J has taken off.

He has been gaining knowledge in many music software programs and has proven he has skills as he is self taught. J Lektro comes from a background of a musical family. J is also the other half of the band Plezhurhouse. The band consists of J’s mom Patty and J. Together they form music through originality and electronic equipment. They write, sing and produce their own music. J’s mom hung out in the early days of the house music era in most of the big named clubs that spun house music. That is where she acquired her knowledge and love of the house music scene. This knowledge was passed onto J. She is also an avid vinyl collector and exposed J to many forms of music including rock, r&b, dance, pop, reggae, classical, gospel, blues, new age, rap and disco. J’s roots span many areas and eras of music through his bloodline. What else could J have turned out to be? LOL!!!!

Early this year J was exposed to the underground world of techno and other progressive forms of music by his mom’s association with another DJ/producer making a name for himself in the Chicago area Kamil P of The Influence. It is through this hookup that J has begun learning how to spin vinyl. Fascinated by Kamil’s skills on three turntables J has vowed to put another task in tow. He is now learning how to spin vinyl with the help of The Influence. J’s mom Patty of Plezhurhouse has now formed another alliance with international DJ Ellery Cowles, upcoming DJ Kamil P of the Influence and also another close to the heart, a musician Larry Overton of the local band “The Original Coldsweat."

It looks like J Lektro will be in good hands as he continues on his journey. J Lektro has begun doing mixes and spinning locally and is already being asked by some internet stations for his mixes. By adulthood—who knows where this young shooting star will land !!
